Basic types of topologies

In network topology there are six type of topologies; they are as follows:

1. Bus topology
2. star topology (BEST Topology)
3. ring topology
4. mech topology
5. tree topology
6. hybrid topology

Possible Protocol Design Goals for MANETs?

* Small overhead

* Low power consumption
- Limited battery power
- Minimize energy radiated

* Maximum throughput
- Broad coverage, a message will block many
- Collisions => force unsynchronized behavior

* Robustness

* Minimum loss during movement

* Utilize geographic knowledge
