Classification of Ad Hoc Routing Protocols

* Flat Routing .. Each node plays equal role.

- Proactive (Table-Driven) Routing – continuously evaluate network connectivity
DSDV, FSR, FSLS, OLSR, TBRPF, etc

- Reactive (On-Demand) Routing – invoke a route determination procedure on-demand
AODV, DSR, TORA, ABR, SSR, etc

- Hybrid Routing – right valance between proactive and reactive
ZRP (Zone routing protocol)

* Hierarchical Routing .. Node’s role is hierarchy

HSR, ZRP, CGSR, LANMAR, etc.

* Geographic Position Assisted Routing
GeoCast, LAR, DREAM, GPSR, etc.
